I came to woodwork crafting after a successful career in the NHS. All of my life I have had a love of wood, dating back to my final year at school when I designed and made a wooden cot for my niece in my woodwork class. Many years have passed since then but the interest in the craft has not waned. I trained at Building Craft College, East London as a mature student, where I completed the Diploma in Fine Furniture.
After completing my course I founded AnnaCornish Essentially Wood to devote my energies full time to creating individual and long lasting pieces at affordable prices. In this process my interests and life experience have come to inform the design, making and the final product. I work from Blackhorse Workshop, a community workshop based in Walthamstow where I have a full time studio.
I have four strands to my work, Home and Garden, Handmade Furniture, Custom made and Upcycling.
Home and Garden includes kitchenware, bird nesting boxes and bee hotels, Furniture pieces are to my own design and made to order, Custom made offers projects to your own design (with my help if necessary) and specification large or small. Finally upcycling takes on a variety of projects to re-use, improve, and save from the landfill!
I also design furniture for commercial manufacture.
